When the windshield frame is rechrome plated, the plater sometime does not get all the acid out  that gets inside the frame and the frame rust thru from the inside. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi Bill:

Before I took my windshield frame to the plater, I drilled some discrete holes through the frame channels  in locations that would eventually be covered by the windshield gasket. This would help promote drainage of the plating chemicals. I then instructed my plater to direct rinse solution through the inside channels after the plating cycle to remove as much as possible. After I got the frame back and dried the inside, I sloshed a POR 15 solution inside the channels to arrest any potential for rust. It's been done now for a number of years and I've had no problem.

Good luck,
