Dear Model 400-A owners.

In end 2004 I bought a 400-A from a Mr Harry Smith in Gardendale Alabama with body No 1154 . On the original title the previous owner is John C Williams, Raleigh NC and on that title it also says body no 1154.

When reading the A-400 owners list I see the same body no but from a Mr Lee Chatterton,Hot Springs AR.

Could any one of you tell me how that is possible. Do I have a false body no or ??? and by the way what month about is the body no 1154 produced (My guess is June or July -31)

Regards from a devoted model A fan.

Body number 1154 has appeared on the A400 Group roster in recent years. During the 1970's and 80's we assigned some number for cars missing the plate, but only unreported numbers were used and a small "a" was put after the number in our records. This is not such a number.

This number was probably produced in July 1931 if the upramping of production matched that of the 68-C Cabriolets. We could perhaps pin this down closer by doing a "regression analysis" of the correlation between engine numbers and body numbers as the Cabriolet Club did about ten years ago.

Thanks Phil for your kind reply. I really does not quite understand your answer.

Do you mean that more cars can have the same body number and mine is just a false number.

Ralph
