Thanks Bill for your answer to my other upholstery question.
I've now come to the part on L/B's upholstery installation instructions about the top well side panels (these are the approx. 16" x 4" metal panels that form the inside of the well for the top when it is folded). L/B supplies some artificial leather in their kit "for those who choose to cover these panels."
My question is, were they originally covered (mine are currently painted body color) with this fabric or is L/B just supplying this fabric for those that may want to cover them?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Larry,
It is my opinion that the original rear quarter panels were installed with a flap that extended over the metal panel that forms the inner side of the top bow pocket. But when L/B makes a kit to replace the interior trim, they have to take a different approach. The rear quarter panels need to be easily installed. So there may be some variation between their kit and how the original upholstery was made.

Phil,
Thanks for your quick response. I will proceed accordingly.
