My car body is now painted and  close to being ready to put on the chasis.  My next step will be installing the windows.  Is anybody making weather seal that will work on the A-400?  Who is the supplier(s) and what are the part numbers?  I need to know what is used on both the rear quarter windows and the door windows.  Any help will be appreciated.

I am going out of town for the Christmas holiday but I wanted to post this now so hopefully I will have the information when I get back.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Larry,

There are many different parts to the window seals. There are the rubber strips to install the glass in the metal channels of the window riser mechanism. There are the guide channels that the windows slide in. There are rubber bumpers in the middle of the sill, inside and out.  There are sponge rubber seals at the top of the quarter windows.

The guide channels of slant windshield models are unique in that the front one of each door has to be very deep to hold the slanted glass. The others are standard. On the quarter windows the rear guide channel extends only up to the sill.

At the time I restored my A-400 (1966), the deep channel was not available so I had to cover the original rubber with felt. I believe all of these parts are now available as reproductions.

Phil,if I understand your answer that the rear quarter window rear guide channel just extends up to the sill what do we use on the top of the curves portion of the window to seal the window when it is closed? On my driver the channel is formed so the glass fits into it when the window is closed.

Mine had only a sponge rubber seal on the curved part of the quarter window. The rubber seal was the width of the slot, glued in place, with a slight depression on the side toward the glass. Phil

I checked with an owner of an original A400 that is in very good original condition and the curved glass in the rear quarter window does seal against a rubber seal as Pallin says.
