Does anyone know how accurate is the Lebaron Bonney top for the a400 ? Do they have the correct support flap installed
above the rear window and the special flap below the rear window . Also there should be a special flap inside to act as
a wind seal along the side rails . If you look at the pictures of the a400 on Marco's abarnyard web site you will see what
I am referring to .
Thanks
Dan
Dan, I have a top on order from L/B that has been completed except they are waiting for me to send them the rear window frame and glass for installation. The woodgraining should be completed this week, so I will ship it to them right away.
I don't know how big a hurry you are in to order your top, but I will let you know how mine came out as soon as I receive it. If it is not per the original, I plan to return it for corrections.

Thanks Larry that is a big help .
Dan,
I purchased and installed the L/B top on my A400 several years ago. The first replacement top I made from scratch in 1966. The L/B top did not have the support tab for the rear window. I also found that the interior trim for the front header was incorrect - not even close - so I had to do it myself. Other than these criticisms I felt the top kit was pretty good, installation directions were good, and the results satisfactory.

My top and boot came in from L/B last week. The tab at the rear window appears to be correct. I sent a drawing of the tab from the A-400 prints available on this web site and also a picture of a restored car showing the tab to L/B after you posted your question. When I received the order the paperwork stated they had added the tab per my instructions so I assume it might not have otherwise been included.
The print showing the tab I sent to L/B has no measurrements but the scale says "full". I hope the drawing has not been resized from original because their tab measures the same as the print.
The material and workmanship all seem to be of good quality. I won't be installing it until later in January (hopefully). That will be the test.
My experience with the LeBaron-Bonney top is written up in Newsletter #14 from April 2001. You can read it in the Resources section of this site.
Also, I failed to answer you question about the wind flap which should be on the inside edge along the top rail. The L/B kit doesn't include this feature. It is not too critical since the recess of the top rail snaps puts the outside fabric close to the top rail. See also my discussion of the evolution of the top rail snaps in the development photos.
