The JS says the main bow hinges that are mounted in the bow pocket are to be painted lower body color. Does this mean only the main hinge that is bolted to the wood or does it also mean the moveable part of the hinge that is mounted to the bow? Also, what about the hinge pin?
I would think that if only the bolted part gets the body color, then the moveable part would get the "grey drab" color and be mounted on the bow before assembly. I don't know what finish the pin would be.
On the other hand, if both parts of the hinge are to be painted body color, I would think the hinge was assembed with the pin and all three pieces were then painted lower body color.
I'm getting close to painting my body, can someone set me straight here.
Thanks, Larry Gilbert

Hi Larry:
Based on the exisiting paint colors on my original car, I finished the bolt on cast hinge lower body color, the lower portion of the top bow grey drab and I left the pin unfinished (stainless). I found that the hole in the lower cast portion of the hinge was worn out where the pin passes through, so I machined it out and bushed it.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for this information. This is just what I needed.
