Subject: Question on Roof Rail Snaps

The 5 snaps on each side of the roof rail on my car had a separate "cup" (approx. 3/4" in dia.).  The 2 snaps located near the hinge did not have these "cups".  They all appear to be original, installed with rivets.

Is this the way they were originally or is mine an aberration?

I am adding two pics to clarify my question.
