Subject: Roof Rail Snaps for Top

I'm interested to know if the snaps that go on the roof rail were originally installed before or after painting the car.

Can anyone help me on this?

I would say installed after painting because they are plated. The plating still shows on the "cup" and snap and I doubt ford would have taken the time to tape them off. They were installed with tubular rivets. The round heads went to the inside and the mashed part was inside the male snap. This info is from an original car that appears to have not been changed.

Yes. I agree that Ford would not have masked these off for painting.  Thanks for your reply, that is the way I will restore mine.
