Has anyone seen or purchased a new A400 windscreen frame from the chap that has an advertisement in the the restorer magazine? His advert mentions that they are of concourse quality.

I'm looking at purchasing one from him but I would like some feedback before I hand over all that money.

Thanks

Alan

Hi,

Can you tell me the name + address + tel.no or e-mail address to the guy that makes those windshield frames as I myself would need one for my A-400 and also if the frame is as to original specs.

Thanks  //  Ralph

This windshield frame has been discussion on the Cabriolet Site. Go to the links in the Resource Section and click on the model a house link and you will find it.

Well after an attempt to use a aluminium frame and have it fail, I bit the bullet and purchased a new steel, chromed and painted frame from Gene Bunce. The aluminium frame broke a weld when placing the glass in it, this was after I had had it chromed and the rear painted, a costly mistake.

I rang Gene one evening and proceeded to let him tell me all about his frames for about 1/2 an hour, he seems a likable character. I was convinced this was my only option at this stage so I ordered an A400 frame from him. He was able to supply the frame within 2 weeks and it was packed in a timber frame for protection. Considering it had to travel half way around the world it arrived in perfect condition.

I must say that in my 30 years or so of purchasing model A reproduction parts for my model A's, this frame would be one of the best reproduction parts I've ever purchased. It even came with the rubber seals and tools needed for working on the frame. As the saying goes 'you get what you pay for' and this frame is certainly a quality item, I wasn't disappointed at all and I don't think anyone will pick it as a reproduction.

Just had to let you guys know

Alan

Go to the links on this site  to model a house and check the Cabriolet messages. There is one person that has received one and I think he plans additional post on it. So far he likes it. The 1931 Cabriolel and the A400 use the same winshield.
