Is it correct that the front spring shall have 10 leafs as I have to change it to a better one on my 400-A and does someone have the experience of the repros sold by i.e. Brattons.

Ten leafs are correct. I have had originals rearched in the past with success. Have no experience with reproductions.

I an not too happy with the repro front spring. It does not have a flat portion around the centre mounting bolt, like the original had. So the original front spring clip bar (part no. 5458 ) can not be used. A re-arched original spring is a lot better. I guess the repro spring can be used if you grind down the spring clip bar to fit the contour of the new spring.
