Along the top rail of my car there is an elongated hole. I have now figured out it is for a rubber to fit into and for the hood irons to rest on. Is this correct? If so, can this rubber be purchased somewhere or does anyone know what the dimensions are so I can possibly make one.

Thanks

Hi Alan:

There is a hand drawing of the part that you're referring to in the Phil Allin's newsletter #3. It's essentially a small piece of angled rubber with a tab that fits into the hole on the top rail.. Years ago they were reproduced by a company called Restorations & Reproductions in Oregon, but they are no longer available. To the best of my knowledge they are not currently being reproduced anywhere. The good news is that they are quite easy to make. A dab of rubber cement helps hold them in place.

The part you are looking for is the roof rail side to slat iron bumper (A-402262) and a blueprint should be in the resources section.
